The voice recording feature is what sold me, and it actually works well for quick grocery lists while I'm driving. The LCD screen is bright enough to read in the car, and the magnet sticks fine to my fridge. Charging takes about 3 hours, which is a bit slow, but the battery lasts ages.

MP850 Memo Pad - 8.5" Flex LCD Writing Tablet with Built-in Magnet and Voice Recording

Bought this as a cheap kitchen tablet for recipes and it handles that fine — the 1024x600 IPS screen is actually sharp enough to read from a couple feet away. Android 7.1 runs smooth for basic stuff, though I wouldn't push it with heavy games.

730TPC 7" 1024 × 600 IPS High Resolution, Cortex A53 Quad Core 1.2GHz, 1GB DDR3/16GB Android Tablet

The bilingual English/Spanish switch has been a surprise hit — my daughter now corrects my pronunciation of "elefante." The 3D images actually pop off the cards, which keeps her sitting still way longer than I expected for a 2-year-old.

Popup Zoo Bundle (736TPC Tablet + Popup Zoo 3D Flashcards)

The 10.1" screen is a good size for watching Netflix in bed, and the 16GB storage holds a decent amount of shows. Only gripe is the 1GB RAM — it gets a little sluggish if I have too many apps open at once.

1070TPC 10.1" 1024 × 600 High Resolution, Cortex A53 Quad Core 1.2GHz, 1GB DDR3/16GB Android Tablet

Bought this mainly for reading ebooks on the train and the 8" screen is a great size for one hand, way lighter than my old 10" at just 0.68lb. The IPS display is sharp enough for text and the 32GB holds plenty of books. Battery could be better but for the price I'm happy.

Thomas ★★★★★

816TPC 8" Android 10.1 Tablet, Slim Matte Black, 2GB/32GB, 1280 x 800 IPS High Resolution
